Character Profiles

Ben is a hard-core revolutionary, but he is committed to the principles of non-violence. He maintains a blog called Ben's Almanack, in which he posts evidence of government cover-ups, corporate greed, and military blunders. One of his favorite topics is the seemingly benign global "security system," and the GeoTec corporation who maintains the cameras, scanners and network software which monitor everyone's daily activities. Ben has been faithfully married to Caroline for 18 months, whose artistic spirit compensates for his own lack of creativity.

 

Caroline is the owner/operator of the Chrome Nun Tattoo Parlor. She is also a total science fiction fanatic. Most of her artwork focuses on her passion for the stars, comets, suns, moons and alien landscapes that populate her dream to travel in outer space. Not only does she support Ben's political views, but Caroline is an active participant in the rallies and demonstrations he leads. Her tattoo parlor has become a headquarters for the disaffected young people who follow Ben's blog.

 

Rose is a naturopathic healer. She was brought up in a Roman Catholic household and attended a Catholic school until she was 13. In high school, she became a member of a small Wiccan community. Although she no longer is an active member, she still considers herself a pagan. She was attracted to Ben's blog when he started posting evidence that the local Archdiocese was heavily invested in the GeoTec Corporation.

 

Country is a self-described pot farmer. He does not sell his high-quality product to the medical marijuana industry, however. Nor does he sell much of it at all. Rather, he seems to grow it solely for his own personal consumption, occasionally selling to his close friends. He has no political sensibilities, at all. It seems that his presence at the Tattoo Parlor (and his participation in Ben's protests) is entirely motivated by his desire to meet women.

 

Wyoming Moon Goldberg (aka Moon) is the embodiment of the hippie spirit: she is wild and free, yet sensitive to the needs of others. Or is it all an act? She seems to have an almost manic need for being loved, but has trouble accepting love once it is offered.

 

Frost is a young American soldier. Still in uniform, it is unclear whether he is on active-duty or not. He has been wounded badly, which has resulted in an inability to talk; yet he seems compelled to tell his story.

 

Ginger is 13-year old runaway, who finds the mean streets of the city preferable to the horrors she left behind in her privileged suburban home.

 

Manny is a street hustler, amateur magician, and part-time pickpocket. He lives on the street because it his place of employment, having been kicked out of home when he was sixteen.

 

Bethany has been trained to be Manny's assistant. She is clever and smart, but has an enormous heart. It breaks her heart to see other people suffer.

 

Dr. Albert Houston (aka the Doktor of Space), is a former Professor, who has seen better days. Many years ago he taught at the University, but we can't be sure if his degree was in Astronomy or perhaps Philosophy of Religion. For some unknown reason, he thinks his name is Bear.
